1. Short title and application.-

(1) These Rules may be called the Skins Grading and Marking Rules, 1937

(2) They shall apply to skins produced in India

2. Grade designations.- Grade designations to indicate the quality of skins (goat and sheep) are set out in column-I of Schedule-I.

3. Definition of quality :- The Quality indicated by such grade designations is out, against such designations, in columns 2 to 10 of Schedule-I.

4. Grade designation marks.- The grade designation marks shall consist of the metal label of the designs and shape set out in Schedule-II.

5. Method of marking.- The grade designation mark label shall be attached to each skin on the tail near the root by means of a wire and Secured with a lean seal bearing the word AGMARK.

The measurements given are for dry salted skins. A shrinkage allowance of 2½ percent shall be added in the case of wet salted and 5 percent in the case of raw skin. - !! The skin having been evenly folded lengthwise and laid flat the length along back shall be measured from the root of the tail to the point where the skin of the front part of throat is the widest when measurement at right angles to the fold.
