Law of Ukraine “On Information Agencies”
Date of Entry into Force: March 28, 1995
This Law sets forth a legal basis for activities of information agencies in Ukraine.
Information agency is a registered as a legal person subject of information activities, which operates for the purpose of provision of information services.
Activities of information agencies include the following activities: · collecting information; · processing of information; · creation of information; · storage of information; · preparation of information for distribution; · release of information products; · circulation of information products.
Subjects of activities of information agencies are: · founder (co-founder) of an information agency; · head (director, director general, president, etc.) of an information agency; · working collective; · creative collective; · journalist of an information agency; · specialist in the sphere of means of communication; · an author or owner of information; · publisher (producer) of products of an information agency; · distributor of products of an information agency; · consumer of products of an information agency.
Chapter ІІІ of the Law regulates legal relationships that arise at the time of establishment, state registration and termination of activities of information agencies.
Major kinds of products of information agencies are: · electronic products; · printed products; · photographic products; · cinematographic products; · audio products; · video products.
The Law establishes responsibility for violation of legislation on information agencies.
The Law also regulates activities in Ukraine of foreign information agencies.
